In 1951 he joins the “Rocky Mountains Ol’ Time Stompers” as guitarist. This is one of the few groups playing Western music in Italy at that time. The Rockies evolve into “I Campioni” in 1954.

In 1958 he plays at the Sanremo Festival where Domenico Modugno places first with “Nel blu dipinto di blu” (now worldwide known as “Volare”).

Beginning in the '50s Bruno composes and records many pop music tunes. Hisgreatest success is “Tintarella di Luna”, composed in 1959 (lyrics by Franco Migliacci). This song is initially recorded by “I Campioni”, followed, a few months later, by Mina. Very shortly the song becomes a worldwide hit and is nowadays an evergreen.
